This collection of fun and engaging logic puzzles contains 2 food chain and pyramid puzzle pages and 7 food web logic puzzles. These puzzles are a creative way to reinforce the student's understanding of food webs. Because all of the organisms have been given imaginative names, students will have to rely on their understanding of the vocabulary describing each organism (producers, herbivores, carnivores, omnivores, decomposers, competition, and primary, secondary and tertiary consumers).

I created these practice sheets to help my students understand and practice writing formulas for ionic compounds. This concept is relatively simple, but the application of this skill and plenty of practice are what help it sink in. The first sheet contains a basic overview of the rules for writing formulas and a page and a half of practice problems including two written as they might see on a standardized test and two challenge problems that test their understanding of the underlying concept.

About the store

Experience

After spending a decade in the classroom as a science teachers and instructional specialist, I am now the High School Science Facilitator for Mesquite Independent School District in Mesquite, Texas. In this role, I develop science curriculum and instruction for high school teachers from all 5 high schools in the district.

Teaching style

I strongly believe in a hands-on approach to teaching science. Each day I try to incorporate a lab or activity that allows students to investigate and explore the day's topic. I try to teach major concepts using a Learning Cycle/5E approach, and I am constantly trying to improve and implement effective teaching practices.

My own education history

In 2002 I graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station, TX where I double majored in biochemistry and genetics. After a year working with troubled youth in Colorado I began my teaching career. In 2012 I earned my Masters degree in science education from the University of Texas at Arlington.
