Bar Graphs. Set of colorful worksheets, examples, and a quiz.

This is a 14-page set of worksheets and a quiz on bar graphs, designed to cover about one week of class time. I created it using my tablet, which allowed me to include great images, handwritten explanations, and tips to make the concepts easier to understand. I worked on it for a week and decided to start completely from scratch to support my Workplace Math students. I introduced the topic as if it were the students’ first time learning to read and create bar graphs. The last few sheets are me

Mitosis & Meiosis, Worksheet Hands-on Great for Review

This worksheet is ideal for comparing and contrasting mitosis and meiosis. Your students will identify and demonstrate their understanding of each phase of both processes. It includes a cut-out page where students will select and cut out images representing each phase, then paste them in the correct locations on the diagram. Designed for a 90-minute class, this worksheet can serve as a review before a test or as a formative assessment of learning. Give it a try—my students loved it! You only nee

Spanish: Definite and Indefinite Articles (El, la, los, las, un, una, unos, unas

In this booklet, you’ll find an easy‑to‑follow look at Spanish grammar—specifically, how every noun is identified as masculine or feminine. I’ve added my own drawings and color‑coded the Spanish and English words, and I’ve highlighted the key ideas exactly the way I did back when I was a student. The booklet has a friendly feel: about half is handwritten, while the rest is typed, so it reads like a set of “borrowed teacher notes.” Inside, you’ll get the general rules for telling whether a noun

Meiosis Flip Book hands on activity & Test on Meiosis and Mitosis (includes KEY)

This activity is designed to take three full class periods, during which students can create either a flip book or a digital animation. I've also included a comprehensive final unit test on meiosis and mitosis, along with an answer key for your convenience. The test was created using images from the flip book I developed. The flip book includes 56 slides, which are provided for you to print, cut out, and use as a visual model for your students. To make the activity more inclusive, I offered my s

Building a Kaleidoscope - Hands-on activity. Light & multiple reflections

Building a kaleidoscope is a fun activity that complements the unit on light and waves. A kaleidoscope demonstrates the principle of multiple reflections. I used reflective paper instead of mirrors to avoid potential accidents in my project, and it worked very well. Just make sure to fold the paper into an equilateral triangular prism shape. This activity takes about 90 minutes and allows time to review light behaviors, including multiple reflections. After students finish building their kaleido

Heredity: Patterns of Inheritance in Spirit Bear & Indigenous Ways of Knowledge.

The Spirit Bear, or Great Bear Rainforest holds great significance for Indigenous Peoples of North America and has been protected for many generations. This magnificent animal is genotypically a black bear with a recessive gene that results in white fur, making it phenotypically white, it is not albino. I’ve created an activity that explores inheritance patterns from a Mendelian perspective while integrating Indigenous knowledge. In this activity, students will use relevant genetic concepts to p

Mutations in Pepper Moth that Led to Adaptation.

This worksheet will help you present mutations as a fundamental factor in natural selection and evolution. The peppered moth's adaptation to its changed environment occurred within just 50 generations, with its coloration adapting due to a mutation. Students will work with an educational website containing all the information they need about the moth, its shifting environment, and the mutation that allowed it to thrive. They will play a simulation game, gather data, and compare their findings wi

Teaching style

I believe that education is a flexible journey where students and teachers collaborate and share in learning, enriching each other in the process. My teaching style is hands-on because there’s nothing better than active engagement to foster deeper learning. I’m not referring to elaborate or resource-intensive activities—sometimes it’s simply guiding students to discover from their own surroundings. Teaching with passion every day, giving my best, and believing in my students... that’s my teaching style. "Teacher, you can only enlighten lamps if you carry fire in your heart." — Gabriela Mistral, Chilean poet

My own education history

I have had 16 different jobs in my life. Some of these jobs pushed me outside my comfort zone, while others helped me flourish and brought out the best in me. Teaching has been one of the most fulfilling activities of my life. Back in my home country, Chile, I studied my first career: aquaculture. After working on a fish farm, I had the opportunity to mentor families in rural areas on how to grow fish using the small creeks on their properties. This job showed me the tremendous impact education can have on improving people's quality of life. These families were able to enhance their nutrition and develop a side business thanks to their small farms. After becoming a mom, I pursued my second career and became a teacher. I taught aquaculture at a technical school for 10 years, and during this time, I discovered my passion for teaching. When I moved to Canada, I faced challenges learning the language and finding a job. During that difficult period, I realized I was stronger than I had ever imagined. After becoming a permanent resident, I decided to return to teaching. After several years of hard work and study, I obtained my teaching degree and I am now a teacher in British Columbia.

Additional biographical information

I am a happy and optimistic person. I’m the mom of two amazing young men, Javier and Sebastian. I’m also an entrepreneur in the crafting world, running a small business called “Arte y Lana,” which means “art and wool.” I create original designs, including the coziest slippers made from wool and sheepskin (check out “Arte y Lana talleres” on Facebook). I also love drawing, coloring, walking in nature, taking photographs, swimming, and practicing yoga. Recently, my sons introduced me to bouldering—I’m doing my best considering I’m 50 years old, and it’s so much fun! 😊
