I have had 16 different jobs in my life. Some of these jobs pushed me outside my comfort zone, while others helped me flourish and brought out the best in me. Teaching has been one of the most fulfilling activities of my life. Back in my home country, Chile, I studied my first career: aquaculture. After working on a fish farm, I had the opportunity to mentor families in rural areas on how to grow fish using the small creeks on their properties. This job showed me the tremendous impact education can have on improving people's quality of life. These families were able to enhance their nutrition and develop a side business thanks to their small farms.
After becoming a mom, I pursued my second career and became a teacher. I taught aquaculture at a technical school for 10 years, and during this time, I discovered my passion for teaching. When I moved to Canada, I faced challenges learning the language and finding a job. During that difficult period, I realized I was stronger than I had ever imagined. After becoming a permanent resident, I decided to return to teaching. After several years of hard work and study, I obtained my teaching degree and I am now a teacher in British Columbia.
