ASL Handshape Alphabet

The ASL Alphabet uses images that when they are signed represent each letter of the alphabet to help students learn both the letters of the alphabet and the sign for each letter.

ASL Alphabet Flip Cards

The ASL Alphabet Flip Cards can be used to teach the alphabet with handshape association to help the student remember the sign for each letter. When they are folded in half and set up on the table with the picture facing the student, the teacher can ask the student what sign would you use for each card.

About the store

Experience

I have been teaching for 32 years, the last 5 focused as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Itinerate Teacher. I teach students from PreK to 12th grade. Each student has different needs requiring me to research and create materials that will benefit them.

Teaching style

My approach to teaching is a Demonstrator/Coaching method in that I show students what they need to know and then give them opportunities to explore what they have learned through multimedia, activity sheets created by others, and/or teacher-created materials. This allows them occasions to enhance their learning and practice demonstrating what they have learned.

My own education history

I attended the University of South Carolina - Aiken from 1986-1992 (took a few years off to focus on my family) with an Elementary degree. Later, I completed my Master's degree in Divergent Learners in 2008 from Columbia College. I then pursued my Deaf/Hard of Hearing certification in 2018-2019. I began teaching Deaf/Hard of Hearing in 2019 to present.

Additional biographical information

I been married for 35 years and have two wonderful daughters. I have two grandchildren that I love dearly. I also enjoy sailing on our 36 foot sailboat with my husband. We are planning, in the future, to sail on it to the Bahamas and other islands in that area.
