House Hammack

I use these task cards as students are working with place value activities in small groups. These depth and complexity questions have students thinking about place value like they never have before, including how it's changed over time and place value's importance in our daily lives.

In this project, students will be researching data to determine how many movies were made from 2020 to 2024. Students will be inferencing external factors that could have caused the changes in the number of movie releases each year (such as covid). Students will also create a pictograph and bar graph to represent their data.

Students will research the amount of gold medals won by 5 different countries in the 2024 Olympics. Students will create a labeled bar graph with the data and then write an addition word problem and subtraction word problem to match their graph data.

Students will compete in a game of battleship using place value language.
