I used this activity as one of my sound unit science centers. We used tuning forks (from our music teacher) to experiment with sound waves and vibrations. Students were thrilled with this activity and learned so much. (I think it blew their minds, haha!) These cards are meant to be used as word wall cards for a classroom, but they could also be used as vocabulary flashcards. I used this activity with my class while we were working on light energy. Students hold different materials up to the light to determine if they are opaque, translucent, or transparent.

I used this as one of my science center activities during a unit on Sound Energy. Students used a simple water xylophone to explore pitch with their peers. They use the sheet to guide their learning.

I developed a way to track my students progress on Fry fluency phrases. I am using this as a part of my RTI interventions for struggling readers in 3rd grade, so the goals I set on the first page of the PDF have been set with that in mind. I set up folders that can be used with tutors who frequent my room. I gave this assessment to my students after a unit on sound and light energy. The assessment is 3 and a half pages long and includes a bonus points section also. There are 2 short answer sections, multiple choice, circling sections, labeling, a fill in with word box section. The answer key is included, too. This sheet will allow your students to explore as they work with a cup and a flashlight to determine how light effects objects and how they can make certain kinds of shadows. This sheet would be appropriate for a light energy unit.

I am preparing my students to take the reading OAA soon and I wanted to play a vocabulary review game with them. So I made these cards to help play the game. There are 10 pages of terms and 4 vocabulary star seat labels to choose between We will be playing vocabulary star-- It is like musical chairs, but no one is ever out. When the music stops the student at the vocabulary star chair(s) explain the term that the teacher is holding up to their classmates.

This is a colorful chevron pennant banner that you can hang outside of your classroom at the beginning of the school year. It says: Welcome to ____ Grade I included grades 1-12, so that you can choose your current grade level. I cut and laminated all of my triangles and then I punched holes in the corners and slid a white string through the triangles to hold them together. I use these in my classroom to alert children when it is their day to book shop in the morning before school instead of doing morning work. I laminated them and attached magnets to the back so that the numbers are easy to switch out daily.

Use these little salt shakers to help your students "spice up" their writing. These act as an abbreviated thesaurus for students to use during writing time to replace boring, over used words. I cut, laminated, and bound mine together with a metal ring. This is an easy resource for students to use and will help build up their vocabularies in the process.
