About the store
This is my 24th year in education. I am currently the IB Coordinator at a International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) in Florida. Through out my career I have taught multiple grade levels and courses in Elementary Education and Middle School. In my current position I work with teachers to develop and implement our IB program along with developing and delivering school based professional development.

Engineer the Tallest Tower: Opertions with Integers
This lesson includes an Engineering Design Challenge where students construct the tallest tower possible using a set of materials.
The lesson connects to operations with integers as students connect the items they used to a credit or debt.
Great for the first week of school with a built in getting to know you piece where students interview their engineering design team partner.
Additional practice with integer operations is included.

Experience

Teaching style
My teaching style focuses on teaching math through engineering design challenges, open ended questions, investigations, higher order questioning and student led discussions. I am able to integrate multiple subject areas through writing to explain, vocabulary development, children's literature, current events, financial literacy along with science and engineering investigations.
