This is a unit I created to start off our 2nd grade year well! I discovered that in grades 1st-3rd, students are really struggling to solve problems on their own. So often they need a teacher or adult to solve the problem for them. I created this problem solving resource to teacher students the proper way to communicate and solve a problem independently. We use this as part of our IB Who We are Unit.
Included:
-Friendship lesson plan
-I-message definition and poster
-Compromise poster
-Win/Lose
Per request I created my alphabet with lower case letters. I created this to use in my IB themed classroom. Each letter of the alphabet stands for something IB, international or educationally focused. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
I originally created this journal to help my 2nd grade class keep track of the IB units we were learning. I also found I needed a simple reference guide for them to look at to find meaning for the many IB definitions they learn in the PYP. (Attitudes, attributes, key concepts, skills, etc.) I have adjusted this journal to line up with any PYP year K-5th Grade. It allows students to keep track of each UOI they study.
Includes:
-List of attitudes and simple definitions
-List of attributes an
Students keep track of a time when they are being "IB" There are 10 different small pages where students get to draw a picture and write a quick description of when they have been caring, inquiring, reflective, risk taking, etc.
Print this book back to back and then cut and staple it together.
This is the ABC that I created to hang up in my classroom. I have been looking for one that represents the PYP and decided I might as well just create my own. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
How the World works classroom newsletter on Balance and Motion. Gives all Unit of Inquiry basic information, activities, vocabulary, summative assessment plans, etc. Great to post in the classroom or send to parents.
IB unit of inquiry newsletter to communicate to parents what students are learning in class. It is a great overview for each unit. This unit is a 2nd grade IB under the transdisciplinary theme: Where we are in place and time and focuses on Ancestors and Culture.
I use this in my classroom when we are observing pictures or something new. This process really helps students start to wonder and ask really great in depth questions.
