One challenge I found was finding a generic worksheet to work on the major elements of comprehension--no matter the genre. With that in mind, I created 10 weeks worth of reading logs with activities geared towards a specific comprehension skill, rather than a specific text or genre activity. As I worked my way through Kindergarten this past year, I realized that one thing that seemed to be lacking was not the access to data and graphing information, but rather a way to spiral that data and graphing into every day math discussions. Poetry is one of my favorite things to teach. It allows students to express themselves in a way that is free, creative, and unique to their personalities.
