A list of Kentucky Derby Party and Parade ideas that I use in my fourth grade social studies class. This day is one of the highlights of our year. A sample parent letter is included as well as details on each activity.
This project is a fun way to cover famous Kentuckians in your Kentucky Studies class. Students choose a famous Kentuckian, research that person, write a speech on that person, and create a visual representation of that person to present to the class. It is a great way to cover this content in a student centered way, as well as teach students some research and speech giving skills.
Included in download: instructions, list of Kentucky Heroes, parent letter, examples of visuals, and scoring guide
