About the store
I am a retired teacher having taught 2nd grade for 4 years and 1st grade for 24 years. Teaching is my passion. There is nothing I'd rather do that assist children as they become strong readers and build self-confidence. I loved challenging my students and watching as they realized they've discovered the answer. For 27 years I taught my grade level's gifted students in combination with my general ed. students.

They soon understand the difference a friend can make. The rule, Two Vowels Go Walking, is on an Anchor Chart. The activity is also written and illustrated on Anchor Charts showing children the steps in which to follow. Letter cards are included in this sample. Please see my complete Vowel Buddies unit in

About the store

Experience

I am a retired teacher having taught 2nd grade for 4 years and 1st grade for 24 years. Teaching is my passion. There is nothing I'd rather do that assist children as they become strong readers and build self-confidence. I loved challenging my students and watching as they realized they've discovered the answer. For 27 years I taught my grade level's gifted students in combination with my general ed. students.

Teaching style

I feel it is most important for my students to be strong readers who are independent, and use critical thinking skills. Most lessons and assignments are differentiated. My goal is to challenge every child, ask questions that help them meet the challenge, and provide fun, engaging activities in the process.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I am honored to have been chosen one of my county's Top Five Teachers of the Year, as well as being named Most Influential Teacher by the valedictorian of one of our district high schools.

My own education history

I have a bachelor's degree in Primary Education, K - 6th. My master's degree is in Curriculum and Instruction, with a focus on Expressive Arts. I also hold an endorsement in Gifted and Talented Education. The most important education I've received has come from my peer teachers and students over the years. There's nothing like hands-on experience!
