Ark of the Covenant Gold - Math Activity

This is a fun math activity that I have used for several years in grades 6—8. It references the description from the Bible to calculate the amount of gold used to cover the Ark of the Covenant. Once the students determine the amount of gold used, they can calculate the value of the gold using the current price. The students discover that the value of the gold exceeds a staggering ten million dollars! The math concepts used in this activity are measurement conversions, the calculations of surfac

Bible Math Collection 1

"Bible Math Collection 1" is a cost-saving collection of 5 of my most popular Bible Math lesson plans. Appropriate for middle grades and higher. It includes math lessons about Creation, Noah’s Ark, Ark of the Covenant, King Solomon’s Pool, and Gideon’s Army. These lessons are described in detail below and may be purchased individually. This collection contains every page in the lesson booklets. My students loved these projects. They are excellent for schools and homeschools.

Days of Creation - Math Lesson

Although this lesson was certainly not designed exclusively for Christian school teachers (or Christian homeschoolers), it should be of particular interest to them. I know that math teachers in Christian schools (of which I was one for some 15 years) are often interested in relating math lessons to the Bible whenever possible. This lesson provides a way they can do that. This is a math activity that uses the creation story from the Bible as a “springboard” for the students to investigate differ

Goliath Math

This is a fun math project for first through fourth grades. Everything you need is included in this booklet. The project is based on the story of David and Goliath, one of the most popular stories in the Bible, recorded in the 17th chapter of the book of First Samuel. Even people who know very little about the Bible, are familiar with this story. The key element in the story is how a small shepherd boy who trusts God is able to defeat a huge giant that everyone else is afraid of. The lesson is

Super Simple & FUN Checking Accounts

A simple and fun way to teach students how to manage a checking account. This booklet comes with complete instructions on implementing my very simple, no-fuss system. The streamlined method I devised creates very little extra work for the teacher/banker. Includes masters for checks, checkbook covers, balance record, deposit slips, and a poster that illustrates how to write a check. FYI: this project works great with my math buck learning incentive which is FREE to download.

ZAP The Math Monsters

This is a fun way to introduce the concepts of fractions & percent while engaging the students in a Star Wars type game where they can knock out the monsters representing fears of making math mistakes. This game should help them overcome math phobia and introduce them to how fractions and percents are calculated. First, each student makes a rubber band ray zapper. Follow the simple directions for gluing, cutting, folding, and taping. Page 3 has the step-by-step instructions. Page 4 has the cut-o

Math Weekly Report

It is always helpful to establish a strong positive working relationship with parents. Keeping parents informed and up to date is vital. One of the methods I've used successfully is a weekly report which is sent home with each student at the end of the week to be signed and returned the following Monday. I used the reports for math students but they can be adapted for any subject. The reward for the student is a Math Buck (one of my TPT FREE products). If a student fails to return the signed por

Teaching style

Teaching math can be an adventure; it's a process of leading students to discover ways to quantify, calculate, measure, and understand. My method is to incorporate fun math projects into the middle school curriculum - projects that are based on adventure themes. They stimulate curiosity and keep the students engaged.
