This Readers’ Theater introduces the three types of rocks and how they form. Middle school students will enjoy learning Earth science content, while interacting with each other through the script. Readers' Theater: Force and Motion

This Readers’ Theater begins at the county fair with an elaborate exhibit on Force and Motion. In this script, Professor Roberts is SO scientifically intelligent, he is unable to explain his exhibitions in “laymen’s terms.” So, Newton the Science Genie appears to help the audience understand, by relating the concepts to every day life. Students will be introduced to the concepts of Force and Motion, while also learning a little about Newton’s First Law of Motion. The highly informative

Nouns are Everywhere: Script with Action Responses

Following the script, students will create a Freeze Frame Noun Statue with their group and will individually write a Tricky Tongue Twister based upon a selected noun. Examples and solid directions are given for both of the Action Resp

About the store

Experience

Twenty-four years of elementary and middle school teaching experience including: science teacher for grades 3 - 8, math/technology teacher for grades 5 - 8, multi-age clusters for grades 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8, self-contained classrooms for grades 3, 5 and 6, drama assistant, musical director, and science fair coordinator.

Teaching style

I believe in Howard Gardner’s Theory of the Multiple Intelligences, which leads me to vary the opportunities my students experience throughout the day. Differing the instruction method, I hope to shift each learning experience to touch all learning styles and intelligences. Children need lessons that allow them to actively participate, move, inquire and respond.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Northern Michigan Teacher of the Year 1999 Nominee for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching 2009. Peer-selected leader for the Administration Team in 2012. Selected by Administration to participate in MACUL Cohort 2009-2011.

My own education history

BS in Education from Central Michigan University Major in Physical Science Minor in Music Finishing a Masters Degree from Ferris State University SEI (Structure English Immersion) Certification MACUL Cohort (Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning)

Additional biographical information

My own passion for the arts inspires me to integrate aspects of them with all subject areas whenever possible. Drama, music, painting, photography, pantomime and more. Having grown up along the shores of Lake Michigan and Lake Superior, I've grown to love learning about (and collecting) rocks and minerals. Geology is FUN to me! I'm taking a year off of teaching to farm organically and learn hands-on how to grow healthy produce that is chemical free.
