Learn by doing - the Coordinate Plane is certainly one of the most engaging (and enduring) math lessons there is  - at least that has been my experience with the students I’ve taught who engage in this math standard. This Introduction to the Coordinate Plane Lesson via a Google Slide Show is all encompassing. It takes the students through the important key terms and each of the quadrants, and guides them step-by-step how to name and plot ordered pairs. Included are highly-curated instructional

Play the 60-Second Sweep with your students and before you know it they will be begging you to play this multiplication facts game. Why? Because it is that much fun! Who knew that learning the "times-tables" didn't involve the stress of memorization. Playing this game will help your students reinforce these math concepts which will ult

Word Problems... you can hear the groans now... BUT NOT THESE WORD PROBLEMS! :) What makes these different? They're the same old same old, but with a twist... they're each accompanied with animated gifs aligned with the problem theme that will hold your students attention. But best all... they are meant to be PERSONALIZED! Replace the students names in each of the word problems with those of your own students names. Simple to do: highlight the name of each student then type and replace the name.

Teaching style

My pedagogy is predicated on cultually responsive teaching models and beliefs. I align my teaching to student centered, constructivist, paradigms. I believe technology is a necessary component in lesson development and delivery, as well as harnessing the personal devices students utilize in their daily lives. I also adhere to the pursuit of creating a strong community of learners in numerous ways that are reflective of the diversity of cultures I continue to have the privilege of serving.

My own education history

I didn't choose teaching as a career. Rather, it chose me. I began as a radio/tv production teacher at a vocational school in the Upper Midwest. My undergraduate degree is from Indiana University-Bloomington. I received my teaching credential from Antioch University-Los Angeles. And this past December 2019, I completed my M.S.Ed. from CaIifornia State University-East Bay in Online Teaching and Learning! If anything, I continue to pursue Life Long Learning enrichment opportunities, such as, but notwithstanding, attendance at Writer's/Reader's Workshops at Columbia University's Teacher's College.
