Use this assignment to supplement your gardening class by having students plan how they would spend $1000 to design a garden for your school! They must create a list of supplies to include the website, cost and quantity and then answer questions after. Once they are done, you can have them compile their information into PowerPoint or Slides to share with the class.

This assignment has been a HIT with my grade 8 students. It allows them to highlight their culture in a way that is meaningful to them, with lots of flexibility and creativity. On presentation day I set up my classroom in the shape of a half moon, with half of the class behind the desks doing their presentations, while the other students rotate every 2 minutes stopping at a new person.
