A variation on Mafia/Werewolf to introduce the concept of herd immunity to students in a middle school science classroom. Directions, printable cards, and a link to Google Slides class directions are included.

Study guide is written in the format of Who/What/Where/When/Why for each unit, covering 4 units of study. Unit 1: European Exploration (Columbus, pristine myth, encomienda...) A list comprised of online resources for students to continue researching and learning about the Civil War. Activities include interactive battle maps, links to interesting topic articles, virtual tours of battle sites, and resources on women in the Civil War.

Slides designed to give students a stepwise process to follow for creating a plan for a long-term/summative assessment. Students are taught to use self-talk, goal setting, self-monitoring, and evaluating throughout the process.

Each outline is described in its individual product posting. All of my outlines follow a 3-4 paragraph format and prompt the student to answer a guiding question to address each necessary component of the paragraph.

For students to complete during guided or independent reading of a historical fiction picture book. The questions prompt students in a variety of areas, including power, plot summary, character traits, etc.

Prompt: Evaluate (judge) the extent to which the nineteenth century belief in “Manifest Destiny” contributed to the growing sectional conflict in the United States. This is the digital version but lines could be added for handwritten work. Each paragraph has its own section and students are prompted to answer a guiding question to help them target their analysis and include all necessary components for the piece (evidence, thesis, etc.)

Using PowerPoint or Slides is recommended; the assessment document explains the requirements for each slide and 3 comparative analysis questions focused on which interpretation exemplifies the play's power dynamics, aesthetics, and perspectives. The Sample Slide in the listing preview is an example of how the assessment slides should look (based on Hamlet instead of The Tempest). These questions are based on the historical fiction book, "Night of the Full Moon" by Gloria Whelan. Chapter comprehension questions are broken into small sheets for Ch. 1-3, 4-5, and 6-7. The theme worksheet is a half sheet which students can complete independently or in a book club group.
