The Lab Safety activity allows students to cut and paste titles, pictures, and descriptions to the inside of a lab coat. It is an excellent way to begin the year, introducing basic lab safety to elementary students. It is also helpful in establishing expectations for cutting, pasting, and note-booking.
The bundle includes an introductory article about force, energy, gravity, and friction. It also includes two labs (gravity and friction) as well as vocabulary cards and notes. Students will observe the transformation of ice from a solid to a liquid and then to a gas. Students will measure the mass of ice at each stage, illustrate their observations, and describe what happens during each stage. At the end of the lab, students will draw a diagram that represents each state of matter.
