This Reader's Theatre is adapted from Arnold Nobel's
"Frog and Toad All Year" chapter titled "The Corner." I used this as a supplemental activity for the week we read the story from the Harcourt Trophies series, but could be used independently.
I created this for 5 students: Frog, Toad, and 3 narrators. It is an editable file so you can change, separate, or combine parts as needed.
*I do not own the original material. This is adapted into a student-friendly template to hand out and highlight
My writing curriculum is using the "Four Square Model" for organizing paragraph writing. That can be a tall task for a little mind! I created this organizer to help with that process- which can take up to a week for a first grader.
On Day 1 we fill in the numbers of the boxes in the small circles (1 in the middle, 2 starting at the top), and add the topic sentence in box number one.
On Day 2 we organize our three topics into the blank boxes and draw them in the circles.
On Day 3 we write sent
I use this assessment for our weekly timed math fact quiz. It includes 50 basic facts with addends under 10. I time them for 3 minutes and they keep track of their progress in their data notebook.
I use this file every morning with my first graders to practice identifying the date, using a calendar, identifying the days of the week (yesterday was, today is, tomorrow will be), and to practice daily math routines. It includes a set of blank ten frames with yellow and red counters to model numbers and move into simple addition. I also included a slide to practice tally marks and place value for the number of days we have been in school. I recently added a blank hundreds chart that could be u
This activity is designed for an interactive math notebook, but can be used on its own with construction. Students will glue down the tabs of the flaps on their notebook or paper, and use the included manipulative pieces to model and label their problem under the flap. When they are finished, they can use this as a tool to "quiz" each other with word problems involving skip counting.
I have simplified the word problems for struggling readers so they can do this activity independently and be eq
A study guide ideal for a unit on conversions. Includes a reference for the "Big G", and blanks to fill in conversion units. Copy on bright paper for you students to reference during the unit, or shrink to fit in a math journal!
If you use interactive math notebooks or journals, or if you want a fun and engaging alternative to worksheets, this is a great way to start!
With my students, they cut out the title and glue to their journal, and then cut out the squares with the problems and tabs. They glue the tabs (seperated by a thin line so they don't cut it off), and fold them back to create a flap when it is glued down. Then they write the number represented by base ten blocks underneath the flap.
