The Cay Novel Unit Test

Created by

This is a test covering the novel "The Cay" by Theodore Taylor. It includes multiple choice, matching terms, events, characters, short answer and long answer questions. It also touches on foreshadowing and identifying and discussing quotations from the novel. Not particularly long but I use a 14 font for tests as much as possible so it is 7 pages!

Experience

I am wrapping up my second decade teaching at the high school level in Ontario, Canada. My subjects include junior and senior English, a variety of Social Science courses and Canadian Law.

Teaching style

Every class is different, and I adjust my methods accordingly. Regardless of all other factors, I strive to treat each student with respect and to approach each day with a sense of humour.

My own education history

I completed a 2 year diploma program at Sheridan College in Oakville and spent 2 years as a travel agent before deciding that I was not cut out for the world of sales. I returned to uni at 23 attending the University of Waterloo. I achieved my BA English Literature with Honours and went on to the University of Auckland in New Zealand to do my BEd. I returned to my home town and am currently teaching at my old high school side by side with some of my former teachers! (It only took my 3 months to call them by their first names!)
