About the store
My teaching experience is quite varied and I've taught from coast to coast. My teaching career began in 4th grade in Florida (2 years), then special education in St. Louis (1 year), 6th grade in California (1 year), reading specialist BACK in St. Louis (7 years), to now reading specialist/literacy coach in Virginia Beach (since 2011). There are wonderful teachers in all of the schools where I've had the privilege of working. Likewise, there are wonderful students eager to learn!

This rubric allows students and teachers to assess spelling skills within the context of writing samples. Many teachers are using word study in some form for phonics instruction. Assessing spelling skills within individual writing samples allows teachers to know if students are able to generalize the word study skill into independent practice.
