This activity was developed to demonstrate how subtraction is used in the real world. This activity was created for a high school special education program. In this activity, students will use Ikea’s website to furnish an apartment. They have $2000 to spend and must not go over budget. I like to use this activity at the start of a semester to see how well my students are able to complete subtraction questions involving money and navigate the internet.

This is a visual schedule template that I have created and used in my high school special education classrooms. I laminate this schedule and provide the student with a dry erase marker to check off their schedule and to highlight their zone of regulation.

This novel study package is based on Lesley Choyce’s novel, ‘Off the Grid.’ This novel study package was created for a high school special education program. The students that have taken part in this novel study have all enjoyed it. I choose to read this novel to support my students in learning about relationships, life skills and overcoming challenges.  After reading each chapter, the students and I would answer the questions together. This was a wrestling themed reward system visual that I created for a special education student. If the student demonstrated a negative behavior during class, they would receive an 'X.' Three 'X's' and they would not receive a reward at the end of the class. Modify the visual to meet your students needs.
