This is a two page document that reinforces the use of finding patterns in numbers. It is an extension of the function machine commonly used in primary math lessons. It takes the rule a bit further and uses the rule in algebraic form for the student to use in figuring out an algebraic expression. I use this with my high ability 2nd grades, although it can be used with any grade if the student needs enrichment or reteaching.
