Fiction Book Study

This pack covers most of the skills in Common Core Standards RL.2 and RL.3. The students can read any fiction text, find the character, setting, problem, main idea, and key details. Then they are asked to write a summary of the story. These worksheets can be used together to do a fiction book study or used individually to teach each of these skills! This pack is generic for any fictional story. I also have one that is penguin themed and one that is snowman themed. This generic one is added

My teaching style changes all the time! I love to try new ideas or incorporate new strategies into my lessons!

Awards & shining teacher moments

I was asked to be part of a committee to adapt the Common Core Standards for the state of Arizona in 2010. This really helped me understand the standards and how they can be used in the classroom.

My own education history

I'm proud to say that I am a graduate of Indiana University. I also earned my Master's Degree in Reading, Writing and Literacy from a great program at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
