This reading activity takes 5 notable quotes from the "Economy" section of Walden, by Henry David Thoreau, and gets students to engage with the text by asking them to think critically and make connections to themselves and the world around them. This was designed for an introductory unit for a 12th grade Economics course, but it can certainly be adopted for a variety of courses and needs. Might be a great anticipatory guide for an advanced reading course.
