This is a scavenger hunt that helps students review key events that led up to the Civil War: the Missouri Compromise; the Compromises of 1820 and 1850, the Fugitive Slave Act, Uncle Tom's Cabin, Popular Sovereignty, the Kansas-Nebraska Act, and more! An answer key is included along with directions.

The mean absolute deviation is not something my 6th graders get excited about learning. I try to make is easy as possible by providing them with tools such as this foldable. The foldable is also a great resource for students who miss class as it has step-by-step instructions on how to find the MAD.

Here's a fun and easy way to take attendance on Pi Day. Have students drag their pie to the Pi Monster. To change the pie to your students' names, right click on the pie, click on group and then click on ungroup. You will then be able to type the name of student. When you are done, click on the student's name and pie (hold down the control button as you do this), then right click, click on grouping, and then group.

This form lets me keep track of contact that I have with parents. I send the form home the first week of school and have parents complete the top of the form with their contact information. I then put each form in a binder, alphabetically by student last name. As I call parents (or e-mail them) I record the date of contact, who I spoke with and why I called. This form has been a life saver for me as I try to recall previous conversations with parents.
