Worksheet for 2nd graders to show you their thoughts about science. The beginning of the year is the time to see how students can show you their work. Let them use the words and thoughts that they know to be true to them. Let them know that everyone sees and "feels" colors in different ways. Science should be fun!

Notes and Drawings in science is important for students. I use the document camera to myself write and draw the notes for the Planets and for the Mars Rovers. I have given you my notes that you can copy as you write and draw as the students follow your work. I also have a Mars Rover Project on TPT that these notes can lead you into. NASA.gov will also give you great information that can be added to the rover notes.

This is a short lesson on color. It is good for group work, they can follow the sheets and can think about color all around them in nature. What is the difference of how color is thought of in science vs. art. Three lab ideas are included. Good work for students to really think and look at the world around them.

This is a fun project that has the students design and build their own Mars Rover. Center answer sheets and animal pictures that generate thinking and allow the 2nd and 3rd grade students to write about what they think and what they see. Allows them to move in centers to work on matching a picture with the answer sheet that corresponds to their questions. This project puts together the measurement skills for students using cm, mm, and inches. After learning the basics of measurement you can use these included sheets to have students measure lines, measure lines in pictures, and to finally design a House of Measurement that they will design. I have included my sheets that you can copy to hand out, some sheets that you can have the students make (their hand to measure) and I have included the rubric, examples and a test if you need an assessment.
