Rounding to the Nearest 10 Worksheet

Created by
Karen Potter
I created this simple worksheet to help my 2nd graders understand rounding to the nearest 10. It worked so well that 17 of the 18 students understood and could round any number by the end of the first lesson. A couple of kids did have to be reminded to round the 5 UP once or twice but other than that I was painlessly able to teach rounding. The students like rounding so much they BEG me to give them more. I have included one sheet with numbers already filled in and one sheet that you can use to

This little flip book should be a great help when teaching your beginning writers how to s-t-r-e-t-c-h a sentence. It prompts them for Who? Doing What? When? Where? and Why? I have included an example page, a page with handwriting lines, and a blank sheet on which you may wish them to illustrate their sentence. This is great to use in an interactive notebook also.

Plant and Animal Adaptations Flap Book Hibernation Migration & More

This is a flap book perfect for science interactive notebooks. This covers the topics of Plant and Animal Adaptations - hibernation, migration, camouflage, and dormancy. I created this for my Virginia 2nd graders when we study Virginia Science SOL 2.7a but I'm sure that many other states cover these same topics. I have included a cover page with terms, a reverse page with definitions, a page for them to select up to four animals that hibernate and migrate, 3 animals to choose from for them t

This foldable / flipbook was just what my 2nd graders needed to help them study and learn their prefixes and suffixes. I run page 1 and page 2 back to back and then glue or staple to page 3. Page 1 lists the prefix or suffix, page 2 will have the meaning of the prefix or suffix (a list of both is included at the end), and page 3 provides room for them to write example words. I have included the 20 most common prefixes and the 15 most common suffixes. I also included one set with handwriting li

Telling Time Clock Foldable for Interactive Notebook

The 3rd grade teachers asked the 2nd grade teachers to help them out with some clock reading skills, specifically using terminology such as "quarter past, half past, 15 before the hour". I created this foldable to help me reinforce these terms and more with my 2nd graders during our time unit. It was a HIT and the kids grasped the concepts right away. I hope it will help someone else. Just print or copy, back to back, cut out, fold, cut on the dotted lines and glue into an interactive notebook.

Estimate the Sum / Find the Sum Worksheet UPDATED

This worksheet allows my students the opportunity to estimate the sum of a two digit addition problem using their newly acquired rounding skills. They then add to find the sum of the two digit numbers. This allows me to assess several things at once - rounding, estimating, addition with and without regrouping, and are they able to see the validity of their estimate as compared to their sum. I updated this item to include estimating up to the thousands place. I included one practice sheet with n

Use this activity to build your students' skill identifying numbers that are "one more, one less, ten more, and ten less" than a given number. This is a great tool to aid in developing a strategy for addition and subtraction also. I have included one sheet with a number already given and also a blank sheet so that you can create an unlimited number of practice sheets by writing your own number in the center before photocopying.

This is a simple place value game along the lines of the popular Battleship game. Two players create a 3,4, or 5 digit number on their game board and take turns trying to determine their opponent's numbers. This is great practice for learning the location of the ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, and ten thousands places. Multiple game boards are included depending on if your students are working with 3, 4, or 5 digit numbers. It can be printed on colored paper or cardstock and laminated for rep

My students needed extra practice identifying sensory words in sentences and telling which sense the sensory word appeals to, so I created this worksheet. The students are directed to circle the sensory word in each sentence and then identify to which sense it appeals. This product contains 34 sentences and an answer key. It is 5 pages long plus an additional 5 pages for the answer key.

It's simple to use - just cut out, glue the 2nd page to an interactive notebook or staple the two pages together, then cut the top page on the solid lines. The students can then color the marbles to show certain, likely, unlikely, and impossible. Also check out my most recent product - Snip! Snap! Probability http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/

When the fire alarm goes off it's LOUD! and for a second I can't think straight. I need to hurry and sometimes can't put my hands right on my grade book so I created this Fire Drill Class List that I print out on card stock, fold in half and laminate. I hang it on a clip right next to the door and it's always handy during a fire drill. I created it in WORD so that you can add your students' names and parent contact numbers. I hope it works for you as well as it has worked for me. Based on a sug

I created these sheets as a review for my 2nd graders when studying the Native Americans. For Virginia teachers this is Social Studies SOL 2.2. Students read the clue in the first column then SNIP apart the answer strips at the bottom and SNAP them into place in the second column (using glue, of course). I have included one sheet for each tribe studied - Powhatan, Lakota, and Pueblo. If you have any suggestions for improvement or other topics please let me know when you leave feedback. Thanks.

This flip book is great for Social Studies interactive notebooks. The first page lists all 7 continents in the order that I teach my students using a song. I have also included a copy of the song. I teach my students to start by placing their hand on Europe - that is their touchpoint spot. If they always start with their hand on Europe and then move their hand from continent to continent as we sing the song, they will get all their continents correct. If you copy pages 1 and 3 back to back, w

Just print back to back, cut out on the solid outside border lines, fold, and cut on the dotted lines. If you have any suggestions for improvement, or if you need the wording to be different, just let me know and I'll make any changes necessary.

We learn a RAP from the University of GA that I found online and my students always LOVE it! I have found that using songs always helps them to remember better. Virginia Science SOL 2.1 I have included 2 versions - one that uses the words from the RAP and one that is a little more difficult because it just uses the concepts from the RAP.
