This activity is great in a unit comparing linear and exponential functions in Algebra 1. The first two pages are a handout and the second two are cards that may be cut out. Students can work in partners or groups to match the situation, table, equation, and graph cards. Some cards will not be used.
I am passionate about the importance of building on a strong Algebra 1 foundation. After 18 years of teaching High School Math (and teaching Algebra 1 almost all of those years!), I'm working on a curriculum that can be used to help students build a deep conceptual understanding of Algebra. This bundle includes a first semester curriculum for teachers to use with students taking Algebra 1. First, there is a student notebook with table of contents, learning goals, vocabulary, and guided notes f
This is a student notebook with table of contents, learning goals, vocabulary, and guided notes for 5 units of first semester Algebra 1 written by an experienced math teacher
This is an activity to help students visually understand the patterns in the Unit Circle. They will cut out special right triangles and place these on a handout with pictures of the Unit Circle to help them find the missing angles and coordinates. Students will have a deeper understanding of patterns in the Unit Circle, which will help them remember it.
In this activity, there is a handout and a set of cards. Students will match the vertex form of a quadratic with the coordinates of the vertex, the graph, and the min/max value.
These are group lab activities to go with the First Semester Algebra 1 Curriculum. They are designed for students to gain a deeper understanding of the concepts and practice working together.
This is a one page reference sheet of topics from first semester common core Algebra 1. I printed it for my students on cardstock and encouraged them to use it as they studied for the final exam.
I used this at the end of a unit on systems in Algebra 1. This handout goes through how to use a TI-84 graphing calculator to graph equations and to solve a system graphically.
In this activity, students take graphs (printed on transparency film) and lay them on top of graphs on their handout to visualize the solution to the system. They will also check the solution in the equations to verify it works. This works great as a partner activity at the beginning of a unit on systems.
