About the store
I have been in education for 26 years. I am honored to be working alongside a warm, caring and supportive staff. I have taught 1/2 combo, then taught second grade for ten years, went to first grade and became a looping teacher from first to second (which was totally fun!). It is such a blessing to be able to teach these young children how to read, comprehend and compute. It is wonderful to be a witness to these children interact and develop social skills and etiquette. I have also taught 4th grade, 7th grade ELA and 8the grade ELA and even High School ELA!

Perfect start to introduce or review alphabet letters and sounds. Your students will benefit from seeing the letter introduced, seeing each letter associated with a picture, matching, finding/identifying the letter and even practice writing it!! Capitals and lowercase included. The only color pages are the ones with the letter and pictures (13 pages), but you could print everything in grayscale and it would look great. You could also project those certain pages in color using your computer

Do you need something for the kiddos to do on a cold, rainy or snowy day while they are stuck inside for recess? Here it is! This is a pack of 8 games. Some are useful to print in those wonderful wintery colors, while others printed in black and white still look amazing. The pack includes a game for each short vowel, a sight word game, and easy-to-follow directions game and a color matching game. Great for all levels of your class and you do not need to teach them what to do. You can also

The following pages are designed to match the layout from set 1 (letters A-M). You receive 4 pages per letter. The only color pages (besides the cover) is the page that has the students say the name of each picture. You can choose to project these pages and do it whole class, print out one page for your center, or print out several if you are making a book. All the rest of the pages save you money on printing, since they use blacklines/digital stamps. There are alternate pages for Qq in ca

Students get to work on skills such as ten frames, place value blocks, counting, writing the number, writing the word, drawing how many and even counting coins! The "take home books" are written with basic sight words so the most struggling students in reading can complete these fun, addictive math pages. Each page is written in black and white to reduce costs

In this unit you will find a word sorting activity. I have also included a candy sort with a follow up graphing activity. There is a short story for the students to read whole class, with a buddy or individually. They can focus finding sight words, color words and rhyming words. You can ask them comprehension questions, etc. I have included word problems with pictures for addition and subtraction. There is also graphic organizers and templates for the steps of the writing process as well as

This short repetition book will help boost confidence in those struggling readers. Each page is associated with clip art that describes what the readers are reading. As a follow up activity, have those students who need the extra practice, copy the words onto their own paper, onto a whiteboard or color the pictures in the FREEBIE. I have made the booklet in black and white for faster and cheaper printing. I hope you enjoy it! ~Kate Rivas

This can be used as an incentive to return homework, reading logs, or just about anything that you want returned promptly. In my classroom, my theme is baseball. Each day the students start on the green in "invisible" ink. If they stay on green, They get their card punched once. However, their first warning is their name on the yellow baseball (aka strike one), second warning (or strike two) is their name on the red baseball and strike three, they are out (to the office). However good beha

Teaching style

I believe in a child-centered environment, led by the classroom teacher. While districts and states are being encouraged to be data-driven, I still believe in the teachable moments. I enjoy being silly with my students and letting them cheer and chant (when appropriate and controlled) so they can remember having fun while they were learning. It is my true hope that my students have fun in school and beyond.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I will come back to this section. I can think of resume info, but not sure anyone wants to know that stuff! :-)

My own education history

I received my BA in Child Development in 1998, teaching credential in 1999, my MS in Counseling option MFT in 2003, and my EdD in 2009. I also have my Admin Credential.
