About the store
I have been in education for 26 years. I am honored to be working alongside a warm, caring and supportive staff. I have taught 1/2 combo, then taught second grade for ten years, went to first grade and became a looping teacher from first to second (which was totally fun!). It is such a blessing to be able to teach these young children how to read, comprehend and compute. It is wonderful to be a witness to these children interact and develop social skills and etiquette.
I have also taught 4th grade, 7th grade ELA and 8the grade ELA and even High School ELA!

Perfect start to introduce or review alphabet letters and sounds. Your students will benefit from seeing the letter introduced, seeing each letter associated with a picture, matching, finding/identifying the letter and even practice writing it!! Capitals and lowercase included.

In this unit you will find a word sorting activity. I have also included a candy sort with a follow up graphing activity. There is a short story for the students to read whole class, with a buddy or individually. They can focus finding sight words, color words and rhyming words. You can ask them comprehension questions, etc.

This short repetition book will help boost confidence in those struggling readers. Each page is associated with clip art that describes what the readers are reading. As a follow up activity, have those students who need the extra practice, copy the words onto their own paper, onto a whiteboard or color the pictures in the FREEBIE. Amazing Homework Pass
This can be used as an incentive to return homework, reading logs, or just about anything that you want returned promptly. In my classroom, my theme is baseball. Each day the students start on the green in "invisible" ink. If they stay on green, They get their card punched once. However, their first warning is their name on the yellow baseball (aka strike one), second warning (or strike two) is their name on the red baseball and strike three, they are out (to the office).

Teaching style
I believe in a child-centered environment, led by the classroom teacher. While districts and states are being encouraged to be data-driven, I still believe in the teachable moments. I enjoy being silly with my students and letting them cheer and chant (when appropriate and controlled) so they can remember having fun while they were learning. It is my true hope that my students have fun in school and beyond.

I received my BA in Child Development in 1998, teaching credential in 1999, my MS in Counseling option MFT in 2003, and my EdD in 2009. I also have my Admin Credential.
