About the store
After graduating with a bachelor's degree in English and a certification in secondary education from the University of Iowa, I made the cross-country trek to start a new adventure - to teach second grade a high-performance charter school in Tucson, Arizona. This experience has provided me with a great outlook on what both elementary and secondary students need to flourish. In addition to my second grade fully-inclusive classroom, I have also had experience with high school world humanities, composition, and language arts classes, as well as middle school/ junior high language arts and reading classes through student teaching and practicum field placements. I am currently loving my job teaching English 10 and Composition to a dynamic group of adjudicated male youth at an alternative reform school.

Experience

After graduating with a bachelor's degree in English and a certification in secondary education from the University of Iowa, I made the cross-country trek to start a new adventure - to teach second grade a high-performance charter school in Tucson, Arizona. This experience has provided me with a great outlook on what both elementary and secondary students need to flourish. In addition to my second grade fully-inclusive classroom, I have also had experience with high school world humanities, composition, and language arts classes, as well as middle school/ junior high language arts and reading classes through student teaching and practicum field placements. Teaching style

I pride myself on creating a positive classroom environment that fosters self guided learning and inquiry. I push students to use higher level thinking skills and stretch to reach their highest potential by using whimsical activities that make learning fun. My goal is to not only boost the academic success of a student, but educate the "whole" student by encouraging them to become a productive member of society and good steward of our planet.

Awards & shining teacher moments

My 2012-2013 class of second grade students won the 2nd place Grand Award at the 2013 SARSEF science fair with their project "Are Your Hands Clean?" - a class experiment aimed to measure the effectiveness of hand sanitizer.

My own education history

I graduated from the University of Iowa in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in English and a certification to teach secondary English Language Arts for grades 5-12.
