This product contains notes and examples for how to add/subtract decimals using models, as well as how to multiply decimals using models. Students are shown an example with explicit steps on how to model the operations with a 10 x 10 grid, and then challenged to try a few on their own.

This activity has 3 parts: Part 1 gives students real-world problems that involve integers. An incorrect answer has been identified. Students must determine how the incorrect answer was calculated, and explain the mistake or misconception. This quiz assesses students two-dimensional geometry vocabulary. Special types of lines, angles, and shapes are all included.

This activity requires students to utilize their formulas for calculating the area of different two-dimensional geometric figures. Students will be given the opportunity to put a creative spin on the project, as they will be calculating the area of hearts and words to make a Valentine. There is a student example in the preview. You will notice the word LOVE as well as hearts that contain specific measurements - these are the items in which students will be working to compute area. They will work

I created this activity for my 8th grade math class. I used it to "remind" students how to calculate the area and perimeter/circumference of a variety of 2D shapes in preparation for our Volume and Surface area units that are forthcoming. This culminating class project will allow students to demonstrate an understanding of several geometric vocabulary words. The final product will be an alphabet book where each letter in the alphabet A – Z will be represented by a word from the Geometry units. This project is a lot of fun, and allows students to explore geometry in a more creative way.

This is a homework assignment that can be used following lesson that teaches students how to add and subtract decimals. The assignment includes basic computation, modeling, problem solving, and critical thinking.

These task cards assess the skill of using equivalent ratios answer qualitative and quantitative comparison questions. The cards can be used as a small group activity, as they are scaffolded and contain low, medium, and high level questions.
