Elementary Music Dynamics test/quiz

In this test, students have to match words (forte) with the appropriate meaning (loud), as well as abbreviations to their correct dynamic. The bonus question on the bottom was something I had casually mentioned in class one day, and I was surprised at how many students remembered and answered correctly! My 3rd graders were challenged by this test. Even my strongest students took time

First Day of Choir bell work / survey

I use this simple survey as bell work (Harry Wong) or an exit slip with my middle school and junior high choir students on their first day of choir. It's a quick, easy way to find out lots more about your students and quickly determine who your pianists/strong sight-readers/experienced singers might be! It's a way to start to personally get to know your students and have a few laughs, too! Someone always writes something funny! PLEASE NOTE: This is a Word document to allow you to CHANGE some of

Use this worksheet in your kindergarten classroom (or music classroom) to help students create their own rhyming verse for the Raffi song "Down By the Bay"!!! I used this worksheet with my kindergartners after singing the song together, reading the Raffi picture book, identifying "short" and "long" sounds in the song, and brainstorming other silly rhyming verses for "Down By the Bay." Each student colored a picture of their "own" verse, and I walked around the room writing the description in t

This simple worksheet can be used with your young (K-2) elementary music students as you're learning the song "Cobbler, cobbler, mend my shoe..." "so so, mi mi, so so, mi..." In my classroom we sang the song with pitch syllables and hand signs, then with words, and then used this worksheet! The blanks can be used to label the shoes "so" and "mi" OR to practice writing the lyrics of the song. We also colored the shoes to match our colored glockenspiels so that it was easy for the students to s
