About the store
I have been out teaching in the classroom in a multi age, multi ability setting in remote South Australia. In a particularly diverse room in 2015 (Kindergarten to Year 10), it occurred to me that teaching everything separately was simply not possible, so I developed a passion for Integrated Learning.
I have since been a Science Specialist for 3 years in a regional city in South Australia, and am now a Permanent Relief Teacher for 2020.
In 2022, I moved from Primary School to High School and absolutely love it. I also moved from public education to Catholic Education. These have been huge changes for me, but have re-invigorated my teaching and my resource creation.

The Trouble With Treasure
A pirate-themed look at weathering, erosion, and deposition. This is easily made into an entire term's worth of work (8-10 weeks in Australia), and the project guides what you need to teach throughout the term.

Literature based Integrated Design & Tech Unit Plan
This is a fully integrated unit that encompasses Design & Technologies, Digital Technologies, English, HASS and Mathematics across a themed unit. It uses the Lynley Dodd "Hairy Maclairy" and "Slinky Malinki" books as a base. There are suggestions through the unit plan of how to incorporate learning from the books into all subject areas, and hints and tips of how to display your students' learning. Any area of this unit could also be taught as a stand alone area.

Dreamtime Stories Project
This project helps students to engage with Aboriginal Dreamtime stories. They will research, read and watch Dreamtime stories, and then choose one that they will create an e-book for. Includes a grading rubric, a student checklist, links to Dreamtime stories and a detailed overview of how to run the project in class.

A bingo game using Science vocabulary words from grades 3 to 7 of the Australian Curriculum Science Understanding standards. Enough cards for a class of 32 students to play at the same time (in pairs). Just print, laminate and play!

A set of 2 guided reading activity grids that are full of interesting activities for students to complete while the teacher works with a small guided reading group. Both grids require students to be reading a non-fiction text of some kind, preferably a book.

Need a Science Bulletin Board display in a hurry? Look no further! This is a branches of science display, discussing the OLOGY suffix. There are 4 "Your Turn" cards too, so the board is even a little bit interactive. Set those up with the answers underneath, so students can flip them to check their guesses. You could use these as flashcards or make an A5 book out of them too.

My Gum Tree Project
Students will work in small groups, to study a gum tree on school grounds. They will present their findings on an A2 project card, and give a short presentation about what they learned during the project time of 4 weeks.

Political Party Assignment - Civics & Citizenship
A small group project that involves forming a political party with 2 other students, then creating names, logos and policies. Persuasive speaking, logo design, discussions, recording ideas and lots of decision making involved. Students will need to have a basic knowledge of how political parties are formed. Many great clips can be found on the Parliamentary Education Office site (Australia).

The Aquarium Problem
An open ended maths problem solving activity. Students will figure out as many solutions as possible to "The Aquarium Problem". Fins, legs, arms and tentacles all make up a beautiful aquarium. Students glue the problem and information into their books, then come up with solutions that fit the problem's rules.

Experience

Teaching style
I love Integrated Learning as it makes learning so much deeper and more meaningful. I enjoy gamification of learning, and am currently improving my skills in Escape Rooms...keep an eye out for those!
I am firm in my expectations for behaviour, and have taught in a low socioeconomic area for the past 3 years with high percentages of trauma affected kids, poverty and social/emotional problems. This has challenged me deeply and at times made me question being a teacher. But...it has made me so much better than I ever thought possible.
While I still work in a lower SES area, being at a private school brings a different set of challenges. Also - now being a high school teacher, I get to specialise in the things I love - Maths and Science.

After spending 3 years as a Science Specialist teacher, my store has evolved to include a LOT of Science resources. They have all been used by me in a classroom situation. They have not been posted for sale unless they created some really great learning.
I am slowly uploading all the stuff I've created when there wasn't anything suitable out there for my needs. Everything is linked to the Australian Curriculum.
