About the store

Experience

I have taught in many different places and roles: elementary school (both primary and intermediate), preschool, museum education, sports instruction, library, and English as a Second Language.

Teaching style

I prefer to use a student-driven, hands-on approach to learning. I use experiential lessons whenever possible, as I believe students learn best by doing. I try to encourage self-efficacy and global citizenship in my students - school is not a place to earn grades, but a place to learn about the world around us.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I graduated from the University of Victoria with a bachelor's degree in Elementary education, BC teaching certification. I am a certified teacher-librarian (from the University of British Columbia).

My own education history

I grew up in Northern BC, where I attended elementary school and high school. I continued my post-secondary education at the University of Victoria in Victoria, BC, Canada, where I studied creative writing and Elementary Education. I completed my diploma of Teacher-Librarianship from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. I currently completing a master's of linguistics from the University of Hawaii.
