My third graders are learning how to make our writing more exciting this week, so I made this as an introduction. The first page is for them to do with me as a class and glue into their Writer's Notebooks. The next pages are for them to practice on their own. I wanted to focus on three types of hooks: asking a question, stating a fact, and painting a picture. There are many other types, but in the interest of not overwhelming them, I chose these three types. Enjoy!

My third graders are having trouble writing complex introduction and conclusion paragraphs in their opinion writing. I created this graphic organizer to help them plan out each part and make a "juicier" paragraph! Hope this helps your classes too! I have created a class poster set of the 19 icons included in the Depth and Complexity Prompts for Gifted Students. We are using these at our school site in order to challenge students to think more deeply. Each page contains the name of the icon, the symbol, prompting questions for that particular tool, and a supporting graphic. I made this printable book for my kindergarten class. We read multiple versions of the Three Little Pigs in class and then this book allows the students to make up their own version by filling in the blanks!

I created this project for my third graders as we learn about special quadrilaterals. This is an investigation I created to complement the third grade FOSS science unit involving classroom crayfish. I wanted my students to understand the various steps of the scientific method and get hands-on experience with it. I used this while teaching my book club groups how to make three types of connections as they read: text-to-self, text-to-text, and text-to-world. I had them read their book and put color-coordinated post-its where they made the connection, then when they were done reading, they went back and recorded it on this paper.
