About the store

Experience

I am a bilingual elementary education teacher in my 9th year of teaching. I currently teach 5th grade math and ELA in a dual immersion elementary school setting. I have worked in bilingual classrooms, gifted and talented classrooms, and taught Spanish to K-12. My career has been spent in Title I schools and charter schools.

Teaching style

Math is more than a set of skills. It is an experience where students discover their potential for problem solving and creativity. My activities are designed to allow for multiple solution strategies and models. They are also designed with real-world applications in mind. I want students to be able to apply multiple skills to the activity in order to find a final solution. I also encourage students to work together and communicate their ideas with one another as much as possible.

My own education history

I graduated with a Bilingual Education degree in 2006 from Boise State University. I recently completed my Master's in Literacy and Bilingual Elementary Education. I also have a Mathematics Consulting Teacher Endorsement K-8 and an Instructional Coach Endorsement for both ELA and math.
