About the store
I'm a 2nd year English teacher - flying through the school year. I focus on making connections to many things outside the text, meaning I try to draw in many different resources. Close reading and connections to film are 2 aspects that I am constantly working into my classroom. Check out my store as I continue to upload new products.

Teaching style

I am working towards outcome-based teaching where I use standards-based grading to assess my students. This means as I teach, we review the standards through objectives, written as "I can" statements. Although not all of my products will list this information, many of them will use this kind of break down somewhere with it.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Illinois State Writing Project Fellow

My own education history

I graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2012 where I majored in English and minored in Secondary Education. I really enjoy teaching modern novels with a close reading emphasis. This approach allows me to better assess my students using the Common Core.
