This is the training in the staff training I created for Genius Hour. We as staff used it as professional development while working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic to promote innovation in our early childhood program. This presentation can also be used for the public school setting. Each presentation can be a minilesson to provoke learning in students.

This is the second part of the Genius Hour training in the staff training I created for Genius Hour. It takes a step-by-step walk through creating a "pitch" for the project.

This training will introduce staff or students to the learning and research aspect of the Genius Hour project. It will also introduce how to create a final product that will be shared with a wider audience.

Build math and science skills by helping children identify similarities and differences. These summer vocabulary cards can be used multiple ways. Use them as matching cards or a memory game. Another way to make this activity concrete would be to take these cards with you when you take children outside and have them find the objects in the pictures. Lastly, you could use these cards to help facilitate a fun scavenger hunt!

75% of child mistaken behavior is rooted in the classroom environment! This resource is to be used with my Infant / Toddler Classroom Layout, and was birthed out of the need to help engage all children in learning and redirect mistaken behavior in a multi-age group setting. This resource includes a document detailing the rationale for the classroom layout and why each center area is positioned and equipped the way it is. This classroom this resources was made for is a child care center nation

This is a more concrete vocabulary matching activity. Pair cards with actual toy animals or stuffed animals. Put all in a bin. I recommend introducing this activity as a teacher-led activity before making activity available for children to choose independently. After children master this activity, see my other resource "Animal Silhouettes Vocabulary Matching Cards" to increase the difficulty and to challenge children.

Montessori-Inspired; print cards and pair with actual animal toys that correspond to the animals on the cards.Put all cards with matching animals in the same bin. I recommend starting this activity as a teacher-initiated activity before setting it out for children to play with independently.

I created this "crash course" resource to familiarize staff with Genius Hour and to help staff in our child care center working from home. Genius Hour is applicable as a professional development opportunity just as much as a valuable tool to teach students how to be innovative, engaged in learning, and problem-solvers.

This resource includes a digital classroom layout and a rationale for the arrangement. Also included is a rationale for materials and activities to be added to challenge and nurture the development of a mixed-age group infant / toddler classroom.
