Linear Equations in one variable: Gallery Walk (others call it a scavenger hunt). This is a class favorite!! - It gets the students up and moving around the classroom which reviewing their skills. - Students also get a chance to grade each others efforts (hopefully ensuring that all students participate).
What do you see? Finding Slope and Writing Equations of Lines. This activity can be done in pairs or individually. Students are to plot the given points and connect-the-dots using segments to create an image. Topics covered in the activity include: Slope (given 2 points) Slope (given a graph) Writing Equations of Lines Parallel Perpendicular Zero Slope Undefined Slope Distance of a segment
Fun MathLib activity - great for review. Topics: (1) Writing Equations of lines (Parallel, Perpendicular, horizontal, vertical, point-slope-form, slope-intercept form) (2) Graphing Linear Inequalities (3) Application of Linear Inequalities (4) Domain/Range from a graph (5) Domain/Range from a function (6) Evaluating functions / Recognizing functions
There are a total of 5 stations (or tasks). Each station has an option of 4 question. Topics: (1) Domain/Range/Function (Y/N) from a continuous and non-continuous graph (2) Domain/Range/Function (Y/N) from maps, tables, and a set of ordered pairs (3) Domain/Range/Function (Y/N) from real-life scenarios How to use the task cards: Option 1 - Stations Place all 4 cards at a station and have students move in partners or groups from station-to-station solving at least 1 task of their choice.
Application of Linear Functions: Task-Cards Linear Functions Word Problems Topics Covered: Slope & Rate-of-Change: Calculating the slope and rate-of-change and then interpreting the results in terms of the problem. Y-intercept: Calculate and interpret the y-intercept in terms of the problem. X-intercept: Calculate and interpret the x-intercept in terms of the problem. System of equations. Calculate and interpret the intersection. Cost, Profit, and Revenue. Other Products you may like: Domain and

Teaching style
I like to think of myself as a creative individual. My goal is for students to leave my class loving math - or at least leave my class with an appreciation of mathematics and knowing how math is applied in the world.
