This Google slide presentation will introduce students to the African influence in Latin America with a focus on Mexico and Peru. Soy Luna is an Argentinian/Argentine (no one ever agrees) mini-series produced in collaboration with Disney Channel. It has been a big hit in my 6th AND 8th grade classes. The students absolutely love it. I was tired of looking for a lesson that was meaningful and couldn't find anything so I decided to create my own. It includes a synopsis, reading comprehension questions based on a reading, chronological order, who said it?, lexical variations, and description of characters based on thei profes
The verb tener with body parts. In this activity students use their previously learned vocabulary (body parts) to describe Disney's Monster's INC. characters. It is a full lesson with a do now, mini-lesson, active engagement and work time (partner activity) It is a full 40- minute activity, that'll keep students engaged.
This full 40 minute lesson has an aim, do now, mini lesson, active engagement and group work plus an extension assignment. Students describe their favorite class using adjectives and answering interrogative questions in Spanish. I have also included 2 pages of scaffold in full color with models.
This 30 questions benchmark covers four units, travel, pastimes, health and wellness and food unit. 10 Listening questions based on authentic materials. 20 questions based on authentic material using infographics. Rigorous questions that test the ability of any student looking to take the checkpoint A or B. It can also be used as a baseline in the beginning of the year and administered through out the year to measure student growth.
Nine activities students can choose from. Student completes three of the nine activities on the board. They can choose three vertical or diagonal activities but NOT horizontal because the activites are tiered. Level I #1, #2 & #3. Level II #2 #4, #5 & #6 Level III #7, #8 & #9. These activities promote students' autonomy and your students will actually enjoy doing them.

Students are introduced to body parts and I combined it with leisure time activities (from previous unit) Teacher may use circumlocution or create their own PPT to give students vocabulary for this unit. It's a complete 40- minute lesson, complete with a do now, mini- lesson, active engagement and work time.

Students will conduct a research project on the accomplishments and contributions of a notable Hispanic American. Students will choose two (group) or one (individual) activity/activities listed on the choice board. There is a rubric attached that measures content, grammar, information, neatness and presentation. There is also a student checklist for students to complete before handing-in.
