I made this when I was a theater teacher, but it can be used to compare a story to a play easily for grades K, 1, 2 in the regular classroom setting. As students progress into later grades they will be comparing and contrasting texts constantly on standardized tests and progress monitoring assessments. This is a graphic organizer I made to get my students focused on not only identifying the main idea, but also drive them to figure out those supporting details. This is to be used repetitively with many forms of texts. The FSA for Grades 3 & 4 will ask them to not only identify the main idea, but to choose the details that support their choice. This graphic organizer gets them in a steadfast routine toward success in this domain!
