Use this resource to help teach about the Caldecott, Sibert, and Newbery Awards that are used to honor authors and/or illustrators each year. Two books highlighted for the Caldecott awards are "Sylvester and the Magic Pebble" by William Steig and "Watercress" by Andrea Wang. A make-your-own book award template is also provided.
This is a great research project that can be done in groups in the classroom or in the library to connect to W&W for 3rd grade. Created using facts from articles on World Book® Student but could be adapted to be used with other sources. Comes with worksheets for each planet with an example question on each with room for the group to generate their own questions together. Also comes with a group project rubric.
This is a resource I used with 1st grade to introduce shared research. These resources could also be used in Kinder or as independent research for 2nd graders.
This is a simple, fun activity for students to work on showing gratitude. Especially around the holidays.
