This is a simple consolidation task linking a visual method for calculating gradient (rise over run), with the abstract method which utilised two paired coordinates on the line. Students can self-check their abstract method, by comparing it with their visual method. Explicit teaching of each method would need to occur before this task is presented. This task is used as a folio task, prior to an assessment, to be used to draw on if student is unavailable to complete the provided assessment.
