I created this project to help kids learn and apply math standards in a meaningful yet fun way. This is a great way for kids to go deeper with fractions, measurement, and geometry. My third graders loved it! It was challenging yet engaging. I can see this working well for 4th and 5th grade students as well. This book is a great resource to help your child learn to count, recognize numbers and learn number words! It also features ten frames which help with visualizing the sums of ten. Ten is a landmark number, so knowing ways to make a ten is an important skill. Once you get to double digits, there is a double ten frame. This helps your child see the teen numbers as 1 ten and some ones which builds a foundation for place value. For each number through 20, students will: - trace the number and count

Students solve addition problems with a strategy of their choosing. They find a partner who used the same strategy first. The partners find another pair who used a different strategy and explain why they used the strategies they did. This incorporates problem-solving, justifying their strategies in writing, and then explaining it to others.
