A summary is retelling what the book or story is about. It includes the main event or key points of the story. In a summary, these events should be told in chronological order. Characters, setting, problems, and solutions are also main events and should be included in the summary.

Reciprocal Teaching refers to instructional activities in which teachers model, then help students learning using four strategies: summarizing, inferring, clarifying, and predicting.
Once students have learned the strategies, they take turns in leading a dialogue about what has been read.
The student handouts include sentence frames to help students initiate the dialogue conversations.

Daily Reading Log Contract is a tool used for Back to School Night and is frequently revisited throughout the school year to have to accountable for their reading at home. The Form is in English and Spanish.
The powerpoint is simple but straight to the point. It includes 7 slides that includes the structure of a paragraph. Its objective is to allow students to think about the complete structure of a paragraph.

Here is a file that I used to include with our take home reading book library. The file was kept in a folder that included my students' reading log. A copy was also given to parents.
