An 18 slide PowerPoint that covers the different levels biology is organized on. The slides start with an overview of all levels. The student is then introduced to each level starting with subatomic particles and moving up to the biosphere. It's a great big picture introduction or review of how biology is organized. A manipulative worksheet is also available to go along with the slide presentation.

I have taught various science courses for over 30 years. My classroom experience ranges from 5th grade through 12th. Currently I teach biology and computer based science to at-risk inner city students with many reading problems.
Teaching style
I try to make science as relevant as possible to hook my students quickly in new topics. We do lots of hands-on activities that integrate in labs, art and games. I also try to use technology as often possible often allowing my students to use the internet instead of texts to source their information. In terms of my personal growth, I believe in continual self study and follow the research on best practices especially in regards to the at-risk teenage population.
