This is a fun activity for students to practice finding the determinant of a matrix. They will find the determinant of each matrix and match it to the answer. Once the pieces are matched together, the pieces will create a square. Students can find the determinant by hand or with a graphing calculator. This activity is a nice alternative to a worksheet, and can be used as an assessment.
Get your students graphing with these graphing activities! Students can practice graphing points while creating their favorite DC superhero's icon. This activity includes 6 different graphing options, at varying levels of difficulty. Graph paper is included with each activity.
Students will practice simplifying rational expressions by factoring and finding excluded values. There are 12 puzzles in total and can be done individually, in pairs or even groups. This is a great in-class activity to help students figure out how to simplify. Problems include all types of factoring.
This is a fun activity for students to practice working with circles: their graphs, their equations and their key features. Students can work in pairs or groups and use technology to graph. They will try to sink a submarine by strategically placing their naval stations on the graph. Activity includes math discourse and an extension question.
Included: teacher directions, student directions/worksheet, smartboard file.
This is a fun little activity that I use in place of a worksheet to help students cement the concept of changing from exponential form to logarithmic form and back again. This is also a practice in solving very basic exponential equations. Student have to cut out the pieces and glue them on a separate sheet. This keeps their hands busy, and helps engage their minds.
Students will practice factoring trinomials with a leading coefficient that is not one. This activity gives students several opportunities to factor and a silly joke to laugh about at the end!
Students will practice multiplying and dividing rational expressions. Students do each problem and the answer is on the next loop. It’s a different and fun way for students to practice their skills and gives the teachers insight into things they may still be struggling with. This can be used as an assessment after spending a few days on multiplying and dividing rational expressions.
These are a fun visual to display the formulas for area and circumference of a circle as well as area and arc length of a sector. Students will fill in the formulas and can then decorate the flags. This is a fun way for students to show their creative side and create a classroom resource that can be hung in the room.
