Little Old Mrs Pepperpot

Mrs Pepperpot un-expectantly shrinks to the size of a pepperpot one day and also develops the ability to communicate with animals. She has many incredible adventures along the way that can be read about in self-contained chapters (ideal I would say for reading at bed at night) like the Mary Poppins stories. Mrs Pepperpot is a wise, generous but sometimes surly character created by Alf Proysen in post war Norway. A champion of the rural poor , there is a hint of old style folk tale about his stor

The Dolls' House

The Dolls House was written by renowned English author Rumer Godden after World War Two. She wrote popular award winning novels for adults and children and The Dolls House is one of her best known. It has been in print since 1947. There are many books based on the world of toys and dolls (The ‘Velveteen Rabbit’, Noddy, the superb ‘Mouse and His Child’ as well as the subversive Sock Monkey stories by Tony Millionaire) but The Dolls’ House is in my opinion the best example of its kind. This is the

Christmas reading at Glen Park PS for 2017

I don't normally post my Christmas Literature work. (Tasks I develop in reading mostly for my multi-age classroom in the last week or so before our Christmas breakup but this year I decided to do it. One of the reasons I don't do it is because I like to use new Christmas picture story books every year and they usually only appear once in print (unlike The Grinch) and because it is usually designed to meet the needs of individual students in my class. This year is no different but I thought what

Additional biographical information

I love sharing what I teach with other teachers. I don't charge too much for my work ( just pocket money) I don't want to make it difficult for people to access my ideas and use them with their children. I love reading classic literature to children and using it as the basis of my theme work. Technology, art, creative writing and personalised learning are important ingredients in my unit plans. I don't put anything on TPT unless I've road tested it myself.
