To support the Red Band in Open Court for Unit 4 give each student a label in their classroom journal to predict if the character (Green Engine) makes it up the mountain or not. Pause the read aloud as you reiterate this concept and then stop for students to predict right as the engine starts to climb the mountain. Students draw the mountain and character climbing up- they can draw a smiley face if they predict that she makes it, sad face if not. Finish the story and check predictions! *Prints
