The Pumpkin Unit
This is a great unit to start October. Let your students spend the month exploring pumpkins. This unit contains activities from exploring the pumpkin to having the teacher cut the lid off and dig out the seeds. Make a pie in a Ziploc bag. After purchasing the unit, there is a link to download the PowerPoint file. Worksheets and all pumpkin papers are included.

Pumpkin Math Placemats - Using Pumpkin Seeds
Now you have all those pumpkin seeds, what do you do???
This activity uses those pumpkins seeds to reinforce addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Print out the "pumpkin place-mat" and have your students work the math problems out using pumpkin seeds. Print in color on card-stock front to back for years of repeated use. Makes clean up a snap. Also check out the SMART Notebook version for interactivity in the classroom.

Pinecone Turkey Poem and Project SMART file
Students will read the poem about "The Pinecone Turkey" and explore the vocabulary. The students will then create a turkey made from pine-cones, construction paper, googly eyes, and glue.

The pine-cone turkey is a great project for November and Thanksgiving. It is simple to do and inexpensive to create. Makes a fun center piece for the holiday table.
